The Simple Woman's Daybook
I found this meme on The Simple Woman blog which is where it originated and is hosted. I liked the look of it and thought I would give it a try today. :)
FOR TODAY
Outside My Window... There is Blue sky with white clouds and a bit of sunshine—a welcome change after the rain, sleet and snow of last week. It still is only in the low forties, though, so it’s a little too chilly to take my Rosebud outside with me to work on the garden. A pity, since I am anxious to make it lovely out there.
I am thinking... About making embroidered farmgirl summer shawls and camping in the northwoods. :)
I am thankful for... The start of another week with a wonderful man and a chubby, dimply little girl to make a home for. My little girl is such good company during the day while my man is at work!
From the kitchen... A fresh pitcher of sweet iced tea and plans to have leftover barbecued pork and sour cream potatoes that Mama made for our supper tonight.
I am wearing... My nursing dress that I finished late Saturday night out of a lovely blue calico. I love this “Catherine’s Choice” pattern from Baker’s Lane.
I am creating... Can I rephrase this? I am longing to create by God’s grace through the power of Christ’s Spirit… A home whose atmosphere is full of the Spirit of Christ, whose lifeblood is the Word of God and whose heart overflows with praises to our God for His mercy. How woefully my focus falls short of this…
I am going... To go pour myself a glass of iced tea!
I am reading... About natural mothering and farmgirl projects.
I am hoping... For the Lord’s continued grace to be given to me to be full of more and more Love for those that Christ died for.
I am hearing... The whirr of the air purifier in my kitchen and the soft sound of my wind chimes blowing in the wind outside my closed window. Also an occasional grunting noise from my sleepy Button.
Around the house... Clean diapers in the washing machine to be dried, a fire in the wood stove that needs to be stirred up, a load of towels that needs to be folded and put away.
One of my favorite things... Is the smell of my baby’s milk-breath.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week:
Begin Pilates again :), sort through my summer clothes from last year, catch up on laundry from the weekend, dream about summer gardening, spend time looking in Greta’s eyes and talking to her (she loves that!), go look at my man’s completed cabinet project in all of its beauty (I may have to show you all some pictures).

Isn't it supposed to be spring?
Saturday morning ... and my sheets are frozen to the clothesline. There was no way to remove them. So much for cleaning out the boat last weekend when it was in the 70's!
Do you see the lovely print of the front of our car in this snowdrift? Yeah. Hard winds from the west, inches of icy slush on the road. The roads were quite treacherous. The only aggravating thing about it was not being able to immediately get to the hot breakfast that awaited us once we did make it to my folks' house. :) Greta Rose was ready for a nap when her Grandpa and his brother came to rescue us with the pickup. We were close to the farm so we didn't have long to wait. We did make it to the delicious breakfast Mama made. Her homemade sausage and pancakes are out-of-this-world. Oh, yes... and the Rosebud got to have snuggle time with the Grandpa who rescued her. :)

to remember
::'~ It has been a rainy day with twinkle lights and a sweet little girl with soft cheeks. Grandma came to visit--a lovely time. She brought dinner and treasures: little pink dresses for my girlie, a little cream and sugar with roses for future tea parties, an ivy plant. I've also found moments for my fiddle and the dress I'm sewing. Greta isn't quite sure what she thinks about fiddle music yet, I don't think. :)

It seems like just overnight everything got a light covering of green. Trees I was looking at just the other morning and wondering if they were going to bud soon now have a lovely covering of little green beginnings-of-leaves. The spring rain has started its steady fall, pattering on the sidewalks and house roofs and bringing with it soft thunder. All of the little plants will appreciate the watering. I am excited to see my herbs coming up already. I hope to encourage them to grow well and spread this summer because I would like to harvest and dry some of them to make tinctures and poultices for natural home remedies. Mama got the new “Making Herbs Simple” dvd from The Bulk Herb Store that we had been looking at for a while now, and I have been much inspired by the watching of it. I am dreaming up ways and places to dry and store. I am glad that my flower beds are not full yet; I will be able to plant herbs in the spaces left to me. Ah, lovely thought.
However, lovely thoughts must now translate into clean dishes and a scrubbed bathroom while the Rosebud sleeps. :)

Vintage Beauty
Our town had its city-wide garage sales last weekend, so my man and I drove around to a few of them on Friday to check for a few things. We had a good time driving around in the pickup as a threesome. We found some really sweet clothing items for Greta. At one rummage sale that we stopped at there was this lamp that I promptly fell in love with, and Caleb was kind enough to get it for me. :) Here are pictures of it adorning Greta's room in all of its vintage glory. It's in wonderful shape; it even has its original milk glass globe-thingy! One dolla'.

Spring ~'::
My siblings helped me to spring-clean my porch yesterday afternoon, and it's airy and sunny today--making me very happy. The weather is such that I am able to hang the laundry out to dry again! I added a couple of lines to my porch to augment the hanging capacity of my outside line, and I can hang up two entire loads at once. :) Lovely. Tulips are coming up out of the ground, and I can have my inside door open to my porch, letting in a bit of fresh air and lots more sunshine! Rosebud looks rather sunshiny herself, I think. ~'::
