4.27.12

I finished the curtains for my kitchen window Monday evening.  They make me so happy!

There was just enough fabric left over to cover a couple of cushions for the living room.

. . . . .

There is a new lover of kombucha in the house.  He goes around
telling me the water in his sippy-cup is "'bucha".
. . . . .

We've missed Nigella's cooking episodes so much, ever since youtube began their copyright enforcement and they disappeared from the web, so our thrill was really quite great when our very own copies of the episodes came in the mail.  Oh how we have enjoyed them!
. . . . .

A warm & sunny day lunch salad experiment.  Oh for yummy.
Rice noodles in tamari & white vinegar, slivers of green pepper & green onion,
a leftover whiskey teriyaki steak cut in strips.
. . . . .

The kids and I were at it again baking this morning.
They are such good helpers if I just slow down enough to have them help me!

~Grinding last year's dried Rosemary and rooting cuttings for more in the windowsill~

 Mini popovers for lunch

&
Cinnamon coffeecake for breakfast

Greta and Josiah love their new beds from their Great Grandpa Bob.  They were so thrilled when he brought them and set them up, and love so much to crawl into their very own spots for sleeping time.  They even have fancy new sheets to go on their beds.

Grandpa even brought a beautiful new dresser to go with their beds.  What a wonderful help it will be!  All of it made with his own hands in his woodshop--what treasures.

Rhubarb

I was delighted Friday morning to walk out to my grove and find that the rhubarb was ready to start picking!  I have several beautiful, established hills to enjoy here.

Olivia helped me to bake rhubarb muffins for the weekend; my gluten-free ones even turned out well!  Such a joy every spring to taste rhubarb again.  I need to bake some crumble now.

Honeysuckle blossoms soon

Lord's Day rest

We had a lovely weekend with our dear friends staying with us for a couple of days and family visiting.  Many hands made more sorting and unpacking and beautifying possible!  Today was church together and our first grilling and Sunday dinner in the new house.  Delicious food and the best of company. :)

The steaks have arrived!

Late-but-good naps for the babies
(mine in their beautiful new beds from my Grandpa!)

Time to wake up in Daddy's lap, good conversation around a clean table

Coming soon to my kitchen window...

My 65% off fabric find came in the mail!  I can't wait to sew my curtain panels and hang them here.

Our house sat empty for a few years prior to our purchasing it, so the landscaping will need a bit of love.  The juniper trees in the front yard are pretty much done, but happily they are full of vines--the sort one can't encourage in plants you care about but are delighted to find in ones you don't.  So, not that I had nothing else of consequence I could be doing but because I must chase vine inspiration, I spent Tuesday afternoon making a sort of arbor thing for my back shade garden-to-be.  It made me every bit as happy as I thought.  If you ever come stay with us you will be pleased to know that you can see the lights twinkle and birds splash from the guest bedroom window.

Yesterday was new carpet in the bedrooms day.  A happy thing.  Not that I don't appreciate green and black and gold...

The kiddos had great fun helping Daddy tear out the old.  Josiah was master of the hammer and duct tape.  Greta danced an encouraging sort of dance.

Of course once started on vine inspiration one cannot stop.  A heart garland for the kids' bedroom.
(Naptime therapy for me!)

Despite the banging of carpet installation, naps somehow happened in the living room.
Better even than many normal days.

I am very pleased to announce that my friend Monday now has a buddy, Wednesday.
Refreshment will be forthcoming!

Greta and I baked banana bread. Mmmm...

This morning is pleasantly rainy.  Greta is tromping around the living room in her rain boots with her umbrella.

Apparently it really is possible to make good banana bread gluten and dairy free!

We love our new bedroom carpets.  I've always been a wood floor lover, but nothing really compares to the comfort of this deep carpet!

I am so happy to be putting things away in my room!
