Gingham and pink roses

I was doing some ironing last Wednesday and realized that my ironing board cover was looking pretty worn out, and that the pattern of the metal frame of the ironing board itself was being ironed into my man’s shirts. Not good! So I decided to try to make my own new pad and cover. I finished the cover yesterday morning and the “pad” this morning (out of a worn out old bedspread :)). Because it was my first try it wasn’t a perfect job, but it was fun to make and the fabric itself is so pretty and will brighten up the main room! The main fabric (from a twin sheet that I loved the pattern of) is the same one that I used to make my farm girl clothespin apron, so now I have a rather coordinated laundry department. :) (The light in these pictures isn’t the greatest…it’s a rainy day at my house and it’s hard to get the light right just with electric lights! ...Ok, and the pad is a bit lumpy on the edges. I think I need to make a separate plain white cover for it to keep it all smooth under the pretty top cover. )

Oo, I love your ironing board cover. It's the best. And the roses on the fabric are so pretty. I'm glad you are able to do fun things like that and enjoy them!!

Katya, I love your ironing board cover and the apron, you did a beautiful job! Did you use a pattern for the apron, or make your own? Gail

Very pretty Katya. Inspiration for me as the grid work of our board comes through the worn out cover too!

So that is why I thought that your ironing board looked so pretty when we came to your house! What a good idea!
