Morning sun & Advent candles (not homemade :))
Baby snuggles
Chopping up our wheel of beeswax
Some moments out for Mama-snuggles and a nap for the little man
We did it again...the three of us coming to work together in the kitchen matching unintentionally :)
The beautiful golden beeswax bought from a local beekeeper
Wicking & Weights Melting down
Our growing tapers
The best part of the whole project was watching Greta's thrill when she found out we were making candles! "Mimi hath beethawaxth?!" And then when she woke up from her nap to see real taper candles in progress. And then still more excitement when she got to try flattening and twisting them just like The Ladies! (She calls the West ladies "The Ladies" and their candlemaking video is one of her very favorites.) She positively glowed.
Earnest twisting!
Now we have lovely beeswax candles to enjoy. I can't wait to try it again.

How fun! I've always wanted to try candle-making: it looks like you all had a good time. :)

We have the West Ladies Videos! I also have everything we need to make these candles but haven't done it yet. We have made the glow pots though and they are wonderful!
Your candles turned out so beautifully!
I love the photos of your mom with your children.
A lovely day indeed, Sister. Greta's face is enough to make your day, is it not? How we always manage to wear the same thing, I don't know! :)
I must admit though, one of my favorite pictures is of you, chiseling away at the wheel of beeswax... it's you all over. The only person I know who can get blisters from dusting... :)
Many smiles and happy candle-burnings to you!
All of these pictures are happy reminders of a lovely Thursday spent with you sweeties. But the picture of Greta's upturned face, glowing with delight, as she rolls the candle, 'just like the ladies' is enough to wring my heart right out!! That child. I'm so glad you posted. Thanks, little Kat.
