I am unpacking my diaper bag this morning in order to ready it for church tomorrow. It's amazing how many things a person can fit in there. I had it packed quite full on Thursday morning to spend the day at Mama and Papa's house; too bad I didn't take a picture because it was a decidedly happy jumble.
teething tablets (a wonderful thing!)
knitting project #1 ~Greta's scarf
her dollie
a change of clothes for the girlie (of course), including her pink fuzzy hoodie
my wallet
pink sippy cup
diapers, cloths, spray, water, grocery bags
camera
battery charger
knitting project #2 ~Greta's legwarmies
ziploc with jars of baby food (carrots and plum applesauce) and Greta's silver spoon
a bib
a box of brown rice cereal in a purse from Antigua
my cellphone
and last, but certainly not least, my hunting knife (in its sheath--no worries)
("Why my hunting knife?" I ask myself. I suppose if something happened to the car on the drive and Greta and I were to meet, on our trek to the nearest farm, an angry coyote, I would want it ...or something. Actually, I think I just like to have it.)
Hhmm. So now I have record of this exceedingly trivial bit of information. For posterity.

Ooh what delicious word pictures! How I do love it. I can see and smell all of it, and it's a wonderful sight to behold. What a joy to my soul this morning, this simplest and dearest of blogs, dear Kate. You are a treasure.

Love, Auntie

What fun to keep the table of diaper bag contents for posterity. I know I eagerly read each and every word of it! I can attest to the fact that the bag itself is heavy. Perhaps you should get a pack mule? Just a thought.
heehee.
Love you-
M.

Dear Katie,

I loved reading your "rambles to self" especially the part about the hunting knife! Oh, that tickled me! Lovely, lovely photos as always!

Blessings, Paula

Yes, our dear Katie loves her hunting knife. Is that the one you bought on our Idaho excursion?

Ha! Um, actually no...I keep that nifty one in my diaper bag most of the time as well. I mean, each situation calls for a certain kind of knife, so I wouldn't want to be caught without options. This is the one that's about a foot long and goes in a black sheath. I think I had it with me at the bottom of my knitting bag while we were winding our way across the bacon-highway of Idaho.
Speaking of Idaho...that was SO much fun. I miss you guys dreadfully. I hope that we can get together again soon. We should watch that video we took on vacation. Does anybody know where that is?
It was lovely to see a comment from you again, Charity!

Oh ... but some things are worth recording for posterity! This strikes me as one of them ... your list paints such a vivid picture, one day (when your little girl has a little girl and a diaper bag of her own) you'll be able to look back and remember it clearly. It will be a treausure, then.
