What a joy it was to be able to celebrate Olivia last Saturday evening! A graduation party it's called but so much more than having finished twelfth grade. What a joy it is to know the lovely woman Olivia has become. She has caught the joy of learning to think and love for Christ's sake and that is what makes a celebration like this so very special. I am so glad to have her for my sister.
We got to have the party at our house on a most lovely June evening.
Dear ones came to stay for the weekend: Melissa & Kyle and the boys at our house, Uncle Phil & Aunt Dorene, Emmy & Alysha at Mama & Dad's.
The dessert table. Olivia baked!
Beautiful, beautiful thing.
Strains of Glenn Miller played in the background.
Mama knows how to make a thing lovely. Look at that beautiful food table!
Treasure-girl.
Olivia did all of the beautiful origami--the flowers and stars and hanging lanterns.
Little buddy.
Oh how I love Livi's dress!!
A delightful armful of super-happy squish is Mr. Joel T.
The food was delicious:
Chicken salad sandwiches, veggies & fruit, white bean salad, coleslaw & broccoli salad.
Mama is chicken salad greatness. There was a big bowlful to scoop from for any who didn't care for a roll. Oh yum.
Josiah was in toddler boy heaven: the watermelon and pickles were right where he could grab them!
My peonies just started to open that very morning!
Rosie & her Daddy havin' a picnic together
Olivia & Grammy Rose
Lovelies.
Sisters!
We listened to the song Will, Olivia & Ben wrote that Olivia wrote the lyrics to as recorded on the Bankesters new cd "Looking Forward" about the First Minnesota infantry at the battle of Gettysburg. Beautiful stuff! Then everybody who wanted to got their instruments out and had fun playing music together until it got dark.
Another memory to treasure--such a gift.

This post is, itself, a treasured gift. It was delightful to take my time this morning and relive, without the rush, the beauty of that evening. And of that girl. Your way of remembrance and commentary is one of my favorite parts of any family gathering. Always has been. Thank you, with all my heart, for taking the time to post. My heart is full.
oh my goodness. I can't believe she's old enough to graduate! they've all grown up so fast! give her a big hug from me, so happy for her <3
All the preperations really speak for the love you have for one another. I pretended I was there.
