A simple line map...but it should be nice to have to reference people, events, and cities off of. I can go and label the countries and bodies of water when I so desire~maybe even shade with colored pencil. I love working with maps. I have little stick pins that I'll put tags on to label places where friends and loved ones live or people and places from history were. Such fun!
