Noodle Making

  1. Did you make the noodles? :) What did you do with them?

  2. Livi made the dough, I rolled and cut them, and Mama bubbled them in her chicken broth until they were done. Mama made a wonderful chicken noodle soup to go over mashed potatoes for supper. It was delicious. The potatoes swirl in and make the soup thick by the end of your bowlful. :)

  3. Have you seen Kung Fu Panda? This post made me laugh thinking about it. :) "My son, finally having the noodle dream!" :) (You probably won't understand that comment if you haven't seen the movie) :)

    Love you!

  5. Yes, Emmy, I have. :) Caleb's sibs came over for supper a couple of weeks ago and they rented a copy of "Kung Fu Panda" so we could see it. The noodle dream part really cracked me up! Actually a lot of the movie cracked me up... I wish I could Kung Fu. :)
    Love you back!

Sarena~ The noodle recipe is my Great Grammy's, and unfortunately I don't even think I have a copy of the recipe. I will see if I can get it. I have a similar one in another book. It's just a simple white flour/water/egg/salt one, I believe.

  6. Kat and Sarena,

    Here's the recipe. :)

    1 whole egg
    3 egg yolks
    3 T. cold water
    2 c. flour

Mix the eggs and water with a fork, slowly add flour 'til it forms a ball and holds together. (note: it never seems to need the whole 2 cups of flour in my experience. More like 1 and a half)
Roll onto floured board, roll thin. Cut into strips. Let dry 1-2 hours. Drop into boiling beef or chicken broth. Cook until tender 20-30 minutes.

    Enjoy!

  7. Yummy. That sounds so good! Mom used to do that too, except she'd make a noodle-chicken gravy thing so it would start thick and get thicker. So delicious.
I knew those had to be Grammy's noodles. :)
